I’m turning 30 this week and every 5 years I like to do a little inventory of everything in my life – kind of like a life assessment.
I look at my bills, where my money is going, what I’m eating, my self-esteem, the people in my life, my activities – everything. I like to spend a lot of time in quiet contemplation as I think deeply about my goals and how I can be sure to stay on track. Sometimes old goals may become irrelevant as new goals come up. I try to think about all of these things when setting new goals for the year.
This year I am focusing on two main goals.
My first goal is self-acceptance. I am all too often my own biggest critic. We are too hard on ourselves.
My second goal is to face more of my fears. This means getting myself into some uncomfortable situations.
My goal for the last five years has been to always be improving. I want to be a better person tomorrow than I was today. This goal I hope to keep my entire life.
My goal for the last two years had been learning. I hope this goal also continues until my last day.
“Do one thing a day that scares you.”
โ Eleanor Roosevelt
Some of you may know that I turn 30 in a few days. This year, as I turn 30 I want to conquer my biggest fears. Here is fear number one. Posting this video.
This song is one of my favorites and I love that Sadie is singing along.
Turning seventy this May. My plans are to enjoy each day and watch what happens. Good luck and have a great day, week, month and life.
Thank you – happy birthday to you too!
A nice vid… I do think that, turning 30, you know what’s important and you’ve got life right. ๐
Haha I wish I had back when I was 30 (!) — but it’s the ‘now’ that’s important. ๐
Young at heart, that is what matters most. ๐
Definitely! ๐
Turning 30! Wish I could hop a time machine to return to 30. What would I do different?? Hmm…
This sounds so similar to my focus right now!
I wish you the best of luck on that journey!
This is great, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for stopping in!
I wonder if you know how unusual you really are. It is a great day in my world (which is somewhat different that most everyone else’s world) to meet someone who actually means it when they say they are working to improve themselves, when what most people mean is that they want to get everyone else to change so they don’t have to. Bravo for you!
That was a lovely duet!
“I wonder if you know how unusual you really are.” – I’ve always been VERY aware that I am unusual. lol. Funny word choice but I love it! Growing up I always felt odd and out of sync with everyone else however as I age I am learning to love and accept all that is unusual about me. We all need to love ourselves more and stop trying to be like & please everyone else. Self acceptance is not always easy but I think it is good for your self-esteem and when that goes up its easier to be a more positive person. I ramble (why I keep all my videos UNDER 5 minutes). Thank you so much for the compliments and for following along with the adventures. ๐
had no idea you were so young. dont get me wrong, you look fantastic– i just figured you were about 40– youre obviously smart as f*** (or 10 of those.) you definitely seem like an aries, fwiw.
(im actually close to 40 and people guess im in my late 20s all the time, so really no worries about it.)
Lol! Thank you. I was described as the child with an old soul who would rather hang out with the adults and teachers over the other children. I believe that was good for me, however it always worried adults when I was not “with my friends”. Funny – why couldn’t the adults just be my friends? Those kids were crazy. lol. I also consoled my mother when my hamster died (I think I was like 4 or 5). I told her “he was old and everything dies.” My husband on the other hand is older and people ALWAYS think he is MUCH younger than he actually is. ๐
yeah he looks young too.

that was me.
its gotta be tougher when youre a girl. i mean when i was little, i could be friends with all the older people i wanted, but if youre a girl and youre like “im gonna go see my friend mr. tisdale” everyones like: “…” (should we talk to someone?) (i think we better.)
Most people NEVER guess his age. He is quite a bit older than me. ๐ Ha – that is very true. Add the fact that I was a tom boy and never liked hanging out with the girls once they got boy crazy and it was an interesting childhood. I did have many artistic passions to keep me busy. Still I am much the same.
43? face is young, hair is older. probabl
silly me, i hit send. was saying that i probably added a year or two for the “NEVER guess” part. but im not surprised people think hes your age.
and many happy returns!
Happy Birthday!
I’m going to be in your shoes in six months. Turning 30 really puts things in perspective, and you’re right — perfect time to do an inventory.
I hope your 30’s are amazing!
Thank you – I hope you have an amazing birthday (and beyond) as well!
