We are part of a culture that values hard work and long hours. Regardless, it is important to take time for yourself, even during an extended work day.

Lyric Rivera, an Autistic self-advocate from Texas, runs the the internationally recognized neurodiversity lifestyle blog Neurodivergent Rebel. Neurodivergent Rebel was opened in 2016, as a way to introduce people unfamiliar with autism to neurodiversity. The blog, which is sometimes released in written format and also via YouTube video, explores the ideology of neurodiversity and the creative expressions of autistic people. Riveras’ blog pushes for acceptance of neurological differences and respect for the autonomy of neurodivergent people. Lyric is also known as the pioneer of the #AskingAutistics hashtag, which is often accompanied by a short question about everyday autistic experiences. This simple hashtag connects neurodiverse people who would not otherwise have a reason to engage with each other to foster understanding of the autistic experience. View all posts by Lyric Holmans
It’s VERY important to take breaks. Especially if you sit at a desk in front of a computer all day. I say this from personal experience. I am now disabled with chronic pain and it started as a repetitive strain injury from sitting at my desk 8, 9, sometimes even 10 hours. Take care of your body. Get up and stretch, walk around, get your blood pumping.
Great topic! Very important!
Take breaks for your body’s long term health!
Does society truly VALUE the sacrifice or simply demand it? Is it truly worth it or do we just become cogs in a machine that are always working…for someone else’s benefit? How many are truly compensated for their true worth?
Very relevant topic. Thank you for the reminder!
I need this reminder sometimes. 😉
Thank you!

Thank you so much!!!
You are very welcome x
Yes I’ve been doing it for years. Some people at my work don’t but I think that we all should. Work is work – lunch breaks and mini stretching and walking about are good for you and your productivity. They should just shutdown work for an hour each day and watch productivity go through the roof!
